The StreetFest Competition asked for designs that envision street tents not only as shelters but also as active elements within the collective construction and understanding of the city. Invited by SOFTLab and inspired by their circular tent design, we imagined the tent surfaces as an opportunity to further engage the environment. Here they are activated by 15 cartoon-style, monumental eyeballs that are uncanny and intriguing. From the street level, the gigantic eyes appear as abstract super graphics. When viewed from above, they form an image of 15 eyes observing the Bowery skyline. During the dark, the eyes would be projected onto the adjacent building facades to observed the city beneath it.
